1. Introduction

This Health and Safety Policy is designed to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all members, guests, staff, and visitors of Haddenham Social and Sports Club. We are committed to promoting safety and well-being by identifying and mitigating risks, fostering a culture of safety, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

2. Objectives

  • To prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health.
  • To manage health and safety risks in the club.
  • To provide clear instructions and information and adequate training to ensure employees and members are competent to do their work safely.
  • To engage and consult with employees and members on day-to-day health and safety conditions.
  • To implement emergency procedures, including evacuation in case of fire or other significant incident.
  • To maintain safe and healthy working conditions, provide and maintain plant, equipment, and ensure safe storage/use of substances.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all members, guests, employees, contractors, and visitors of the [Social Club Name].

4. Responsibilities

  • Management:
  • Ensure the health and safety of all club members, employees, and visitors.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and take steps to mitigate identified risks.
  • Provide adequate resources for the implementation of this policy.
  • Ensure that all employees receive appropriate training in health and safety matters.
  • Maintain records of health and safety incidents and near misses.
  • Employees:
  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions.

  • Report any hazards, accidents, or near misses to the management immediately.
  • Use equipment and facilities in accordance with instructions and training.
  • Members and Guests:
  • Act in a manner that does not endanger themselves or others.
  • Follow all club rules, signs, and instructions related to health and safety.
  • Report any hazards or unsafe conditions to a club officer or staff member.
  • Participate in safety drills and procedures as required.

5. Risk Assessment

  • The club will conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and determine necessary control measures.
  • Risk assessments will be reviewed annually or more frequently if necessary due to changes in activities or premises.
  • All identified risks will be addressed in a timely and effective manner.

6. First Aid and Emergency Procedures

  • First aid kits will be available at designated locations throughout the club.
  • A list of trained first-aiders will be prominently displayed.
  • Emergency evacuation procedures will be clearly posted, and regular drills will be conducted to ensure everyone is familiar with them.
  • In the event of an emergency, all members, guests, and staff must follow the instructions of the club management and emergency services.

7. Fire Safety

  • Fire alarms and extinguishers will be maintained and regularly inspected.
  • Exits will be clearly marked and kept free from obstruction.
  • All members and staff should familiarise themselves with the location of fire exits and the procedure for evacuating the building.

8. Food and Drink Safety

  • The club will ensure that all food and drink provided on the premises is stored, prepared, and served in a hygienic manner.
  • Staff involved in the preparation and serving of food and drink will be trained in food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Regular inspections will be carried out to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

9. Alcohol and Substance Use

  • The club will promote the responsible consumption of alcohol.
  • No member, guest, or employee shall be permitted to engage in club activities while under the influence of illegal substances.
  • Any incidents involving substance abuse will be addressed promptly and may result in disciplinary action.

10. Incident Reporting and Investigation

  • All accidents, injuries, or near misses must be reported to the club management as soon as possible.
